Introduction

This category is supposed to be some kind of a TODO/idea storage. It's intended for people who sometimes have great ideas about improving something, but just don't have the time/skills to write a patch. Some other person can enhance, correct and clean the idea a bit, making it more exact. Someone else then can pick their ideas up and implement the feature in actual code without too much thinking of concepts. Feel free to comment any of the ideas, try to make clear what part of the text belongs to you (ie. use some kind of inline comments) if it's important in the context.

On the other side, this category is not supposed to be "feature request" site. No "please implement this" things, rather provide particular solution for a given problem, you may use smaller code snippets to illustrate the idea, use quotations said by someone else, provide found-on-the-web references, anything that could the "final" person help with code implementation.

How to add an idea

Simply open URI on which you want to store the article, for example

http://getmangos.com/wiki/Example_idea

and click the "edit this page" link there (if the page doesn't exist). You can of course use classic wiki/mediawiki syntax, see wiki source for the main page, this page, example page below or any other page here to get some inspiration (if you want).

Please don't forget to use [[Category:Development ideas]] on top of your page, to categorize it (see Example idea below for more information).

After all this, put a link to your page below (to appropriate section - create a new one if none fits your needs) using inter-wiki link, ie.

*[[Example idea]]

(the asterisk character is there just to form a nice list) will show below as

(underlines are substituted automatically)

And don't forget to use "Summary" comments once you edit some page, so certain people can actually keep track of what has been done!

footline: We could use subcategories instead of sections, but since subcategories are in fact normal categories on global namespace + we don't really have thousands of articles here, it's overshot a bit. With manual sections, we can manage active/inactive/solved ideas as well.
